Weekend Wrap-up

Well, The Boyett's had another eventful weekeend. Friday night we saw The Doodlebops live! Mattie and Nathan really enjoyed the show. Nathan had so much fun he fell asleep during the performance. He was a tired pup. Mattie had a good time wearing the hair of DeeDee Doodle.Do you know how much they want to charge for DeeDee Doodle hair with cotton candy??? $15 bucks...it's just a shame they sucker parents like they do.

Saturday was opening day for T-Ball/Softball and Baseball. I sure wish the weather had been better. Yes, I was the only mom who sent her child with a short sleve shirt under her uniform. Another one of those "mother of the year" moments. It was freezing outside. Then to top it off, as soon as Mattie's team was ready to play, it started raining. Why we let 6 year olds and under continue to play in the freezing rain, I have no idea. The funny thing was, they never complained and they had fun despite the weather.

Sunday afternoon Mattie had her first swim lesson. She had a blast and she did great. Everytime I would look at her, she was dunking her head under the water. I think she is really going to enjoy swimming this year.

So, here I am today with a head cold from being "dugout mom" during the game on Saturday. Oh, well...I woulnd't have missed it for the world.

Easter Pictures As Promised

Well, we weren't able to get a whole heap of pictures. We got a couple before Church and Mattie and Nathan were just not in the mood after. Mattie was ready to change into her shorts and flip flops and Nathan, well, he just wanted to be chased. And, due to the quickness of the egg hunt, there was not time to get the camera. So here they are..... and a couple of extras!

Weekend Wrap-up

The Boyett's had an overall good weekend.
Friday night, Mimi and PopPop grilled burgers and dogs for the March Birthday Bunch; Adam, Carrie and myself. We had a good time visiting with the family.
Saturday we were scheduled to have a "work day" at the Meridianville Park baseball/softball fields. Matt, Mattie and I showed up around 9:30 and could not find any of our teammates, or anyone we knew for that matter. So, we headed for Lowe's. Matt and I always get so excited when we go to Lowe's. We were telling Mattie how that was our most favorite store of all. And within an instant, I had a flashback to childhood. I remembered how much I hated going to any kind of store or stores that didn't directly involve me getting anything, spoiled, yes I was, and still am. At that moment I saw the look on Mattie's face that I remember having on my face as a child. The look of, "why in the world would this be your most favorite store?". But, she was a good sport and hung in there while be bought new shutters for the house. She does get a little restless, but who can blame her given the circumstances. So, the rest of Saturday was "work day" at The Boyett's house. Nathan was at Mimi & PopPop's so, Mattie got to run around outside and not have to chase after her brother, which I think she enjoyed.
Sunday was a great day too. Easter Sunday it was, and a very cold one at that. This is the day your expect to break out the sleeveless dresses, and sandals. Why do we think that this year may be different? It is never really warm enough for that, but year after year we still don't get it. Ah, who knows, maybe next year it will be warmer.
So after Church, we dinned at a local resturant and headed home for the annual Easter Egg hunt. But again it was slightly chilly. Of course my idea of having the hunt inside was a no go with head decision maker, Mattie Grace Boyett. So, outside Matt and PopPop went to hide 17 eggs. Mattie of course had on shorts and flip flops. It was a fun and speedy egg hunt, thank goodness. Nathan found a couple and put them in Mattie's basket. Mattie was satisfied and had enough hunting herself, until next year that is. My OCD kicked in and I had all Easter decorations, baskets, bunnies etc. in the attic before we sat down that afternoon.
That was the weekend, boy they sure do go fast. So here I am working and wishing for the next weekend to be here already. This week we will have 2 nights of T-ball practice and Church night. We have plans to see the Doodlebops this Friday night (Mattie doesn't know yet....it's a surprise). Not sure if she will have a game this Saturday or not. I will keep you all posted and I will post Easter pictures when I get them off the camera.

Bloggin' on my Birthday

Today is my first experience with creating a blog. I read a lot of blogs and I am fascinated with the idea. I just never thought I had enough interesting things to say. But, who really cares, right? I just wanted some way for me to keep up with our lives, day-to-day so I can look back and read about my kids growing up, because time goes by so fast and I want to document as much as I can.

Yes, today is my 33rd Birthday. I guess you never really think that you are the age you are. I sure don't feel 33. I feel somewhere in my twenties...but I am really glad that I am not. I would love to stay this age forever. I would love for my kids to stay their ages forever...I think. Mattie is 4 going on 14 and Nathan is 16 months old. My hubby Matt is also 33, so as Mattie says, "mommy and daddy are the same size!

Here is some history of the Boyett's;
Matt and I have known each other a long time. He went to school with people that I went to church with so we knew each other that way. Years past and we ran into each other often. We started hanging out more and more and before you knew it we began dating in 2000. We got engaged July 15, 2001 and got married January 2002. We bought our first house in October 2002 and Mattie Grace was born June 22, 2003. Nathan Bryant came along November 14, 2006. Here we are.......

So, anyway, that's the story of how we came to be.

As far as our day-to-day life goes, here it is in a nutshell. Matt works for a Government contracting company in the Human Resources Department. As for myself, I also work for a Government contracting company supporting a NATO program. I specifically work in Export Control and Security Control. We both love our jobs very much and feel very blessed to have them. Mattie and Nathan attend a local childcare center, Mattie will start Kindergarten in the fall. Ok, where did those 5 years go?

We are involved in a few other activities. We are faithful Christians and active members of Meridianville Church of Christ. We love our Church family and are blessed to have them. Mattie is the one who keeps us busy. She played Upward soccer last summer, Upward Basketball this winter and we have just started T-ball with Meridianville Athletic Association. She also takes Dance and Computer classes at her school and we will be starting swim lessons next week. She is a very enthusiastic gal and has a love for sports, but mostly, like Ernest T. Bass, she just wants the uni-form. I can not imagine what it will be like when Mr. Nathan gets into the activity mix.

Well, I guess that's all for my first blog. Let me know what you think.

I leave you with a few pictures from Uncle Adam (Matt's brother) & Aunt Carrie's wedding this past February.
